Eat Me, Deathmobile thrive on irreverence. At Red Bull Soapbox St. Louis 2006, Matt Schweiker, Jason Anderson, Matt Denny, Tommy Pizzini and Todd Schiller not only competed in a racer built after the Popemobile, but the guy behind the wheel of the holy-rolling machine actually managed to pull a wheelie. This year the five seniors at Washington University will up the ante by taking their cues from the kings of rude behavior: Bluto, Boon, Otter and the rest of the Deltas from Animal House.

When Dean Wormer finally expelled Bluto and the Deltas, the hard-partying frat brothers retaliated by terrorizing the Faber College homecoming parade. Recalling that sublime movie moment, the Eat Me, Deathmobile team will wheel an enormous cake-shaped float onto Mount Adams. After the cake swings open, a working replica of the Deathmobile will come screaming out to wreak havoc on the rest of the field.

Matt’s crew should be able to fully capture the anarchy of the Deltas, since their school helped inspire the fictional Faber College. Animal House writer Harold Ramis’ exploits at Washington University informed the Delta’s shenanigans, and the Eat Me, Deathmobile squad plan on keeping the heritage alive and well.
