Rambunctious Riverboaters
Garage Headquarters: Cincinnati, OH
Driver: Andrew Marcagi
Mechanics: AJ Yorio, Michael Marcagi, Ben Barnett
Nuts and Bolts:
Meet Rambunctious Riverboaters skipper AJ Yorio. No other Red Bull Soapbox Cincinnati 2008 captain can brag about writing an original orchestra score back in eighth grade. AJ’s musical talent will help separate his team from the competition when he and his three buddies perform their own song-and-dance number before pulling anchor and going for a Red Bull Soapbox record.
An original tune isn’t the only thing that makes these guys unique. AJ runs down a list of his crew’s singular characteristics: “Ben has been knocked unconscious over three times as a result of his friends stupidity; our driver, Andrew Marcagi, is scheduled to finish hiking the Appalachian Trail a day before the race; and Michael won the junior golf championship for his local country club.”
Explaining his team’s decision to model their racer after Cincy’s historic riverboats, AJ says, “We wanted to represent Cincinnati and our community.” Andrew will take the helm dressed as Mark Twain, who before becoming one of America’s greatest writers worked as a steamboat pilot. With a unique skit and Cincinnati-centric concept, AJ recognizes that the only thing missing is experience. To prepare for their maiden Red Bull Soapbox voyage, the Rambunctious Riverboaters have studied every bit of YouTube footage from past races in St. Louis, Seattle and Providence.
