Sinners, Sailors and a Saucy Wench
Garage Headquarters: Cincinnati, OH
Driver: Tony Traficant
Mechanics: Larry Traficant, Jim Steiner, Roy Kreissl, Audrey Blair-Gentry
Nuts and Bolts:
You figure there’s gotta be a good story behind a team’s decision to call themselves “Sinners, Sailors and a Saucy Wench.” Captain Roy Kreissl doesn’t disappoint, saying that the idea came from “our ages and the idea of a bunch of crazy old friends who met through two different churches and a bar.” Aficionados of Mount Adams’ diverse cultural offerings, Roy and his crew enjoying balancing Saturday nights at The Wine Cellar with Sunday services at Pilgrim Church, to say nothing of long afternoons at the Mount Adams Yacht Club.
But not everything is cabernet sauvignon and regattas for Roy, Tony Traficant, Larry Traficant, Jim Steiner and Audrey Blair–Gentry. Larry, a retired Ford engineer, builds racecars that Tony drives in dirt-track competitions. To celebrate the history of his team’s favorite Cincinnati neighborhood, Larry will design a streetcar racer that harkens back to the days when the Route 49-Zoo car chugged its way up the Mount Adams incline. Of course, the Sinners, Sailors and a Saucy Wench racer will work in reverse, zooming downhill as team driver Tony works behind the wheel. If Tony records a winning time, we can count on seeing some happy bartenders later in the evening, as well as some curious reverends the following morning.
