Due to Red Bull Soapbox brake requirements, the Yabba Dabba Doo racer won’t entirely run courtesy of driver Adam Baird’s two feet. Instead, Adam and teammates Heath Gambill, Charles Huelsman, Mac McConnel and Wayne Matheeny have devised an ingenious lever-action brake, fittingly styled out of an oversized bone. The team of design engineers and machinists have otherwise remained true to the Flintstones’ ride with wood panels and a canvas that perfects the animal-skin canopy on the original.

Although Fred never had to worry about losing his keys, the members of Yabba Dabba Doo will perform a skit based on the nerve-wracking dilemma. With no ladies on the team, it’s not clear who will play Wilma, but slipping into a prehistoric dress and putting on pearls won’t intimidate any of these fellas. “We are all really goofy and fun,” Adam says. They’re also really qualified and deadly serious. “Heath and Adam used to be motocross racers,” Adam says, “and Mac is part of a race team pit crew.” Wayne, who Adams says “can build anything,” has happily accepted the challenge of building a race-ready Flintstones car. With the innovative braking system in place, all he needs now is a bird that honks whenever Adam pulls its tail feathers.
