InnerMountain Distributing
Garage Headquarters: New Castle, CO
Driver: TBD
Nuts and Bolts:
Innermountain Distributing is the local distributor for Colorado’s Western Slope, serving twelve of the state’s counties. If you need beverages or brown paper bags, glassware or gum, candy, condiments, or even chemicals, these folks can bring it to you. And on October 25, the Innermountain team is going to bring “it” to Red Rocks Park, in the form of a branded company soapbox racer.
Team captain John Lee admits that his crew – employees, friends, and family – face some tricky hairpin turns on the way to victory; and he isn’t even talking about the 170 miles of mountain roads they’ll have to traverse to get from New Castle to Denver. Wanting to develop a mountain-related theme, the group came up with a canoe-shaped racer, which they’re constructing in the Innermountain warehouse. The craft’s sleek shape is proving to be decidedly aerodynamic, and the team members are installing bicycle-caliper-style brakes to keep things under control as the racer hurtles down the steep contours of the Trading Post Road course. The savvy teammates are keeping their plans for a skit under wraps, but given that they come from the town that hosts the free-spirited Burning Mountain Festival every year, it’s certain that they know how to have fun and share good times with a crowd. “We think we’ll win,” John asserts, adding, “Why else would you enter?”
