The Big Green
Garage Headquarters: Fort Collins, CO
Driver: Todd Pashak
Mechanics: Rob Zimmer, Logan "Bucky" Gamble, Corey Cocker
Nuts and Bolts:
Corey Cocker, Logan “Bucky” Gamble, Todd Pashak, and Rob Zimmer regularly conquer the Poudre River with inner tubes, and they’ve been known to kick – well – if not ass, at least balls in the Fort Collins Professional Kickball League. So, they figured, why not try to dominate Trading Post Road with a homemade soapbox racer?
While Rob works to bring the world deliciousness at an ice cream plant, Todd, Corey, and Bucky are pursuing studies at Colorado State; so in reflection of the school’s mascot, they’ve chosen to build their racer in the shape of a “battering” ram. “It will be made of wood, chicken wire, heartache, toothpaste, strategically placed bandages, papier mâché, and adrenaline,” says Todd, the group’s driver. The racer is coming together in Rob’s garage, where the team is also practicing a skit that involves “destroying a University of Colorado object” with their ram racer. Mind you, these are the kind of guys who will snow ski in a Speedo just for the fun of it, so they won’t hesitate to play the fool at Red Rocks for a chance at prizes. Todd states, “Seeing as we are from CSU, half the crowd will already be against us. We love a good challenge.”
