X-RB1 Stealth Trike
Garage Headquarters: Beaver Creek, OH
Driver: Major Kurt Chelf
Mechanics: "General" Sandy Coker, Lietenant Colonel Scott Cordel, Major Eric Feil, Chief Master Sergeant Mark Gossett
Nuts and Bolts:
Civilians, prepare to salute, because the X-RB1 Stealth Trike is making its way to Red Rocks Park. “We’re a team of U.S. Air Force members who have been from one end of the globe to the other fighting for freedom – and now we’re ready to fight for the Red Bull Soapbox Race title in Denver,” declares Major Kurt Chelf, the team’s captain. Currently based at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, Kurt and Lieutenant Colonel Scott Cordel, Major Eric Feil, Chief Master Sergeant Mark Gossett, and honorary “General” Sandy Coker are part of a large group of friends from all over the United States who take part in bike races and other events – especially crazy ones with “Red Bull” in the title. Sandy recounts, “My husband won the Red Bull Dragsterday race in Detroit, and two of our friends’ teams had quite a presence at the Red Bull Soapbox Race in St. Louis. One got the fastest time, and the other recorded the most spectacular crash!”
Being military folk, these teammates live by the book. And their primary racing rule is simple: Have a good time. “We know how to make people laugh and smile,” Kurt promises. “Denver has a long history with the Air Force, and there is no better tribute to that legacy than to win the race with an aircraft-inspired design, commanded and supported by an Air Force team!”
