First Step - select a team:

Disco Don's

Garage Headquarters: Tinton Falls, NJ

Driver: Paul "Donny 2 Step" Martelloni

Mechanics: Rob "Donny Does" Felicito, John "Donny Digs" Kotsifas, Ryan "Donny Disco" Pancza, Pedro "Donny Dominica" Mejia

Nuts and Bolts:

Evidently, Rob Felicito, John Kotsifas, Paul Martelloni, Pedro Mejia, and Ryan Pancza were destined to be teammates. “We all work part-time at a car wash, we all skated at Don’s Disco Rama in the early 80’s, and we all were extras in the movie ‘Boogie Nights,’” says Paul, the driver for the team they call “Disco Don’s.” He continues the litany with, “Oh, and we all rock pork-chop sideburns.” Originally chosen as alternates for the Red Bull Soapbox Race in Philadelphia, they’ve now been given word that they’re in the official lineup, so they’re hustling to build a roller-skate-shaped racer that’ll give their competition the boot.

Despite their shortened build schedule, this New Jersey-based crew has the benefit of experience: they competed in Red Bull Soapbox Providence just last year, and they know firsthand what it takes to fire up the thousands of spectators on hand. “Once we get back into our polyester pants and satin jackets, it’ll be all we can do to keep the ladies at bay,” Paul nods, going on to describe the funkadelic music and dance moves that the teammates will use to seal the deal. “The only thing possibly holding us back would be if the Soapbox MC requested a slow jam along with a couples-only skate.” With a wink, he finishes, “We’re really looking forward to showing everyone how we roll.”
