Nuts and Bolts:
Rob Grover, Steve Harrell, Kevin Lee, Allison Lewis, and Ray Sheehan know everything there is to know about Philadelphia after the sun goes down. As staffers at Philly2Night.com, Philadelphia’s nightlife information source, they can clue you in to excellent events, cool clubs, and rad restaurants. But if you’re looking for something to do during the day in the City of Brotherly Love, what then? Well, on the afternoon of September 6, these teammates suggest that you head for “The Wall” in Manayunk, where they’ll be joining three dozen other contenders at the city’s very first Red Bull Soapbox Race.
“We work hard and play even harder. We’re all a little crazy in our individual ways!” says Steve, the team’s driver, of his crew. “We have a great concept for the race; we deal with nightlife, so building a car inspired by the bars and clubs we represent was a no-brainer.” The team’s vehicle is under construction in New Jersey – the better to keep its cutting-edge technology top secret until race time. (Besides, it’s where Steve’s dad has available garage space.) Special features are said to include the signature Philly2Night.com moon logo, as well as hilarious retro accoutrements. “We will be doing a disco theme with disco music and disco outfits, complete with a DJ as the driver!” Steve grins. “Our Afros will speak volumes.”
