The Audi O'Bullys
Garage Headquarters: London, Ontario
Driver: Robin Fisher
Mechanics: Brian Micks, Rick Harvey, Ryan Dickson
Nuts and Bolts:
Canadians Ryan Dickson, Robin Fisher, Rick Harvey, and Brian Micks have instigated so many crazy stunts together that they’ve dubbed themselves The QuAD Pod. “We’ve made lots of memories with our imaginations and wild behavior,” says Fisher, who will be striving to create yet another memory by driving the team’s soapbox racer to victory. “We call ourselves The QuAD Pod because our relationship resembles Audi’s four-ringed emblem: the whole team is pretty tight and well rounded – not square, because the square is unfair.”
Typical QuAD Pod behavior might be holding backyard rally races with their daily driver autos, or building a snowboard ramp in front of their workplace and getting towed in at 50 kilometers an hour (over 30mph) to boost it. Now they’re going to attempt to “bring the thunder” down College Hill as Team Audi O’ Bully’s. “The main inspiration for our cart was a minimalist philosophy with inspired European racing heritage,” says Fisher, citing the 1937 V12 Type D Grand Prix racer designed by Auto Union, an ancestor of the current Audi company. The play on “audio” in the team name also reflects the phat music tracks the team will be laying down for the crowd, and if they can turn in a prize-winning performance – well, bully for them.
